I am really looking forward to building a nice AI again. Might sound strange but in order to not spoil it for myself I only do AI with Entelect. Do not want to do it so much that it becomes a chore when the challenge comes around…
Agreed. Really looking forward to getting going with this. I also don’t do AI as a daily thing, although it has always interested me. But also this challenge always seems to have it’s rules engine made in such a way that you can’t just slap a generic AI in there and that’s it. I really like that.
Really? The fact that we still have multiple options of what it might be, rather that unequivocal certainty on what it actually is is making me anxious.
At least by next week this time most of us will be coding at the challenge. Except me. I will be in NW without laptop/internet… Imagines a world where the challenge was announced on 20 April
I cannot wait for this year’s challenge. I hope its bomber man level complexity… Because lets be real… Bomber man was a bit of a beast.
This year I must just watch timeouts. I actually got a decent PC this year… Looking forward to the tournament, Hope we are continuing on with the golden ticket system… I like the sub tournaments. Its really good to be active throughout the whole challenge. I feel it raises the bar…
I know there’s a few of us whose been waiting for this since end October last year…
Bomberman was great. That and the Pacman challenge were my two favourite ones thus far. I also hope we see something of a similar level of complexity this time round.
Unfortunately I did not compete in the bomberman one (the only one I missed since the start), but yeah pacman was quite fun. I did also enjoy the battleships one. I might not have been so much pure strategy, and had an element of luck in, but it had something different. Some psychological aspect of predicting where the majority of players would place their ships, and “reading the meta”. I found that quite interesting as well.
As for format… The battleships was by far the best. The evolving rules and golden ticket system was awesome. I hope they keep it similar this year (and maybe give a golden ticket to the first person who guessed the theme :P).
Either way I’m really looking forward to it taking up all my spare thinking time, and running game simulations during the night to analyse the results in the morning
Ah, yes. Bomberman and pacman were the most fun. And the format of last year was also great.
Some things I hope for this year: GOOEY?sp challenge, hackathons and maybe not a file based exchange of data(rather rest service or stdin/stdout). One can only hope.
