Tower Defense Base

Hi,

I have been going through the rules of the game and there is a mention of a base that must be protected, but the
rules don’t elaborate on whether this base is a different building type or something else?

Can someone please clarify, is the base a building type that would be situated on the map? Is it the entire first column on the map? Or does the entire half of the map count as the base?

Any missiles that get past column 0 hits the virtual “base”. Each hit currently costs 5 health out of a total base health of 100.

So does this mean that missiles fly directly along the x-axis?
